Nice tut, but you do know Revolution is out right?

    Hey DfW,

Thanks for the props. Evolution will continue to be supported for another 1-2 years. A lot of websites are using it, and 1.5 has some phenomenal tricks like custom TVs.

I’ve spoken to a number of developers who plan on sticking with Evolution for a while. And I think these custom TVs give ole Evo some more life.

Evo will be supported for a lot longer than 1-2 years.

This is great tutorial !! could be a Little more useful if you where to share the code, so we wouldn’t have to retype it and try to figure it out, but thanks for this is exactly what I was looking for.

  • kp52

Great stuff, thank you. It has cleared some of the fog for me about what these things are actually for!

thanks so much for creating these videos – great to see!
I would have had no idea otherwise

  • Chuck Trukk

    Hey Er,

That’s a really good idea. I will try to setup a way to post the code next time.

  • Chuck Trukk

Thanks for the compliments. I love the power MODx brings and cant wait to see how people in the community think outside of the box and do some amazing things with custom tvs.

  • Chuck Trukk

Have you thought of any cool ideas that could be implemented as custom tvs?

    Excellent, detailed tutorial.
I now have a selectable, order-able list of all my sidebar chunks available for each document

In the title you say this is for MODX Evo 1.5, but isn’t this already available in 1.0.5?

Also, any thoughts on a Javascript inclusion system so you could use many different custom TVs on a page, and not have to worry about including jQuery multiple times? Because each one (if it were the only custom TV on a page) would need to include it… My code went some way to handling this (at the cost of modifying ManagerManager), but it wasn’t neat, and I’d like to know if you have a solution for this too? It’s very easy to end up with multiple copies of jQuery included, each overwriting previously included plugins :)

Is the snippet code that makes this happen available somewhere?

    Thanks!

    This is great tutorial!
Show me how to tie Google-map, please ? To save a point on the map.
